ICON Forge P-Rep: Proposal

In short: ICON Forge is a development focused P-Rep team that is creating the first ICON-based digital collectible game. This will introduce non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to the ICON blockchain — unique digital planets which players can own, trade and develop in the upcoming space exploration and colonization game.
Along with that, ICON Forge will introduce a standard interface for NFTs on ICON (similar to the ERC-721 and ERC-1155 on Ethereum) and other infrastructure that is necessary for providing seamless interaction with NFT applications on the ICON blockchain.
P-Rep proposal
ICON Forge is a development-focused ICON P-Rep team. ICON Forge aims to bring crypto-collectibles to the ICON blockchain by developing a digital collectible game. It will be a game of space exploration and colonization, where individual unique planets serve as the main collectible items.
While doing that, ICON Forge will develop (perhaps in collaboration with other P-Reps) any infrastructure that is missing to provide a smooth user experience for interacting with digital collectible applications. This may include, for example, a digital marketplace for crypto collectibles and non-fungible tokens, or a browser extension for interacting with the blockchain.
ICON Forge will lay the foundation for all future crypto-collectibles and blockchain games on the ICON network.
Why we are doing this?
Digital collectible games are rising in popularity, but the ICON blockchain still isn’t hosting any games. We believe that creating such a game has huge potential for popularizing the ICON blockchain as well as providing significant media coverage.
ICON platform is a strong competitor to Ethereum regarding digital assets because of the following characteristics:
- ICON’s considerably faster transaction speed results in better user experience.
- Virtual Step transaction fee sharing model enables applications to (partially) cover transaction fees, which opens up the possibility of using applications without owning any ICX initially.
Action plan:
The first phase is the development of the proof of concept of non-fungible tokens on the ICON network, we do this by creating an initial version of the game with limited gameplay elements.
In parallel with the above ICON Forge will push to standardize non-fungible tokens (NFT) by creating an interface that all future NFT contracts should implement, similar to ERC-721 and ERC-1155 NFT standards on Ethereum. A standard interface would allow wallet and marketplace applications to work with any NFT on the ICON network.
After that we will release the full version of the game along with a marketplace for NFTs. We believe that the NFT marketplace and other infrastructural developments will help to attract even more developments and users to the ICON blockchain.

Kaarel Sööt
Kaarel is a full-stack developer who has been following the ICON project since its ICO. His latest experience was building a crypto trading app Change Invest. Before that Kaarel worked as a data analyst at Starship Technologies, a company building self-driving delivery robots. Kaarel holds a BSc in Business Information Technology from TalTech University.
Holger Sundja
Holger has a degree in Business Administration from the Estonian Business School and years of experience in leadership, finance and marketing. He is skilled in strategic planning and has most recently been involved with various product development projects.
